Water Project

Dossola

Our goal is to provide villages with public access to clean water.

Dossola’s growing public access to clean water.

Dossola is a remote village about 16 kilometers south of the capitol city, Bamako. There are roughly 4,200 villagers, including 325 students. One of the school’s shallow well hand-pumps had not functioned for years, and the other hand-pump contained Coliform bacteria. Students are frequently sick with diarrhea and malaria.

The Mali Wellness Foundation drilled a deep well system (240 feet) that does not dry up in the summer months. The system includes a newly designed filtration system to ensure pure, potable water for the village. A large water storage tank was placed on a tower above the well, along with four solar panels that provide power for the submersible pump placed at the bottom of the well.  Five water spigots were placed throughout the village so all would have access to clean drinking water.
