Improving clean water & sanitation in Binabougou

Binabougou, a remote village just three kilometers north of Bamako, is home to 3,500 residents, including 931 elementary and middle school students. The village had little understanding or practice of basic sanitation, leading to health risks for the community.

To address these challenges, the Mali Wellness Foundation installed a deep well system that provides a reliable year-round supply of clean, potable water. The system features an advanced filtration design to ensure water purity for both the school and village. Additionally, eight restroom stalls with toilets and handwashing sinks were built, and the villagers received training on proper sanitation, clean water usage, food preparation, and hand hygiene practices—promoting long-term health and wellness for the entire community.
